30 September 2010 (belated post)
a night shot of the cakes in their box before I rushed out again! |
She was specific about them not needing sauce/topping/fruits and not to be too sweet as her hubby likes it simple..... so I wasn't able to disguise the imperfections, instead I made little chocolate hearts to happify them, see don't they look cheery?! :D
I'm still not sure whether it's the temperature or the timing that makes them all puffed up like souffles cracking on top and then deflated after cooling sinking in a little in the centre... it's frustrating as this happened the first time too when I was in a mad rush and then postponed re-baking for another month or two?!!! I was hoping the inclusion of a water bath and careful monitoring of time and temperature this time would make perfect cakes, guess I still need more practice....... Luckily, Edith was real patient and understanding with me :P
These four were the better looking ones of the batch, mum and myself personally taste tested two each of the damaged ones for breakfast....
Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Edith in person after nearly 10 years as I couldn't deliver the cakes personally!!!!! has it been that long already since highschool?!!!!!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But I guess the cool thing about running this campaign and "advertising" (bombarding everyone) on facebook is that I did get some responses from people who I have kind of lost contact with.
Thank you, Edith :)
